Situated in the Nishi-Azabu area of central Tokyo, A Lighthouse called Kanata, formerly known as Yufuku Gallery, was founded in 1993 to introduce contemporary Japanese art and aesthetics to a global audience. Focusing on contemporary sculpture and painting, our Japanese and international artists push the limits of their respective mediums to new heights.

One of the most internationally active galleries in all of Japan, A Lighthouse called Kanata is the first gallery from Japan to be accepted to TEFAF Maastricht in 2013, and is also the first Japanese gallery to participate in the inaugural edition of TEFAF New York Spring in 2017. Kanata also exhibits at Masterpiece London, West Bund Art & Design (Shanghai), etc, while holding approx. 6 exhibitions a year at our Tokyo gallery. The gallery also works extensively with public and private institutions throughout the world.

We are proud to be the very first gallery from Japan to be accepted to TEFAF in 2013, and it continues to be a great honour to be able to introduce contemporary Japanese aesthetics to the discerning clientele of the greatest fair in the world.
